It’s so so beautiful to learn more about you! I also did my YTT in 2016!!! Then became a Mother at the end of 2019 so we were on similar timelines!!!
To me home is in so many places... my breath... my feet on the Earth... pausing by the lake near my home... seeing my babies sleeping safely... leaning against an old oak tree... a cup of ceremonial cacao... the moon in the dark sky... being held by my husband... certain friends and company... writing... holding space for others... being in circle with other women...
Gosh actually way more things than I realised. Thank you for making me contemplate! Xxx
Thank you Lauren, that is so kind. It feels good to have gathered my thoughts and experiences to get a bit clearer, its so easy to get wrapped up in everyone else in this season of motherhood, as you know.
I love the synchronicities in our timelines and your ideas about home are so beautiful and varied which says so much about what 'home' can be. You also give me a welcome and timely reminder to reconnect to my body and breath, as well as my surroundings. I love that you mention holding space/being in circle and think I can identify with that feeling of returning/coming home in similar moments. Maybe being 'at home' has some crossovers with that feeling of 'flow' when you feel like things are unfolding effortlessly exactly where you are supposed to be!
Mmmmm yes... that flow state and home definitely feels resonant. Just a simple feeling of not wanting to be anywhere other than that place in that moment... that is surely home. Xx
My corner of the world is all at sea at the moment (not literally) as we are trying to move house for secondary catchment... what beautiful writing Lyndsay - now a subscriber xx
I can imagine that can feel unsettling but I guess these liminal spaces are also full of opportunity and potential for what may unfold in your next chapter? Having said that, I am fully aware of (and well versed in) the stress that comes with moving house. I do hope it all comes together smoothly. Thank you for subscribing, I am so happy and look forward to many more conversations and points of connection x
What comes to mind when I think of home are my children. They send me a little crazy at times, but they also anchor me.
I’ve also found a feeling of home in my work which has given me a renewed sense of creativity and fulfilment over the last few years since launching my new business.
Ah that's beautiful. I love thinking of being my children's first home as their mother, but you are right, it totally works both ways.
And that is a wonderful sign that your work feels like home. To create something that is tailored to and represents you is very freeing, I'm so glad that you are finding that creativity and fulfilment are flowing!
I love your writing, Lyndsay. Making a calm home space, doing a little gardening, and living seasonally are things I enjoy. Your newsletter is perfect for me.
I'm sure I'm one of the few men here, but I'm totally cool with that. As I've gotten older, "men" stuff just doesn't thrill me that much, anymore. 😉
What a lovely post, Lyndsay. Congratulations on becoming a mother, it is a life-changing experience for sure. My children are all grown up and I'm a grandmother now. So home for me is a nest I make for myself, which is very pleasing because I can truly express my personality in the colours and textures and choices of art and furniture. I can breathe in my space, I can relax, and I am invigorated by it. It's quite liberating!
Thank you Yasmin. Yes so life-changing at every level — deep impacts on cellular, emotional, physical, not to mention my day-to-day life!
Ah how wonderful to be a grandmother and to now have home as a nest for yourself. I love the idea that your creativity and personality comes through in your choices and that your home is both relaxing and invigorating - the perfect balm!
