So so wonderful to receive the wisdom from the daffodil through your words! I adore your shares in this series and it makes me want to get out into the garden straight away. I adore the daffodils… although crocuses for me always steal my heart for that inkling of hope after winter (I remember seeing them when I was first pregnant with Sophia and had started to emerge from the first trimester underworld journey… a bit like Persephone I can now see). I think the yellow pop of colour that bursts out of the most surprising of places is like a call to the sunshine… a definite reminder of things rebirthing and coming back to life. Thank you for taking me on the journey. Xxxx

Thank you so much for reading dear L, I am delighted the daffodil wisdom landed with you and has inspired some garden time. Ooo yes crocuses too are very special, like little cups of light at a dark time. I SO identify with the first trimester being like the Underworld and in some ways the fourth trimester too?! And yes to sunny, buttery, golden yellows for hope, here for them all! Much love to you and this slow spring reawakening, thank you for journeying with me xx

Oh gorgeous golden daffodils 💛

It's Autumn in our part of the world and we've just tucked our bulbs into damp soil for their winter hibernation. Enjoy those Spring beauties!

Ah thank you for reading Stephanie, it is so lovely to hear your take on this time of year from the other side of the world. Ah I love planting bulbs in autumn (although I often end up leaving it quite late), they feel like little promises of hope for spring! Love to you as draw inward for autumn xx

Oh my, I didn’t know about Hadestown! I did see an advert across a bus and thought it was a film. Just looked it up and I am so intrigued, I want to hear more! Glad you enjoyed the tales of the daffodil and Persephone. Happy Easter to you 🐣🌼✨

I’m still waiting to see daffodils here in Sweden, so this was just what I needed to bring the energy of sunshine and resilience into my life as spring slowly awakens in the Nordic countries.

Such magic as always, Lyndsay. I am so grateful for your series on flowers. 🫶🏻

Oh wow I hadn’t realised that, what flowers are out for you at the moment? So glad to bring you a glimmer of spring sunshine, which we have actually had in abundance today and it has been SO welcome. I entirely agree resilience is required in the slow unfurling and back and forth of winterspring. Sending much love and spring-filled thoughts to you xx

Daffodils seem to be my two year old’s favorite flower. Today, she was flower hunting for a patch and excitedly screamed, “daf-oh-dill!! Mo daf-oh-dill!” I, too, feel the same joyous desire to jump up and down when I see their cute faces greeting me during this winter spring 🤍

Ahhh Autumn this sounds like the sweetest thing. I love the enthusiasm and yes I too feel her joy! They do have the most gorgeous faces, I love the way you describe them like that xx

I really enjoyed reading this Lyndsay and finding out more about the meaning of daffodils. They are one of my favourite flowers, I think for me they represent hope that sunnier days are around the corner, and the bright yellow just cheers me up! I love all of the pictures of the different types of Narcissus too, I'm inspired to plant more bulbs in our garden for next year.

I’m so glad to hear that Jenna, they are a special flower and have such an optimistic sunniness. There are so many beautiful varieties of narcissus, I love them! The year before last I ‘forced’ some Paperwhites indoors which bloomed between Christmas and New Year, very lovely! Perhaps I can send a Note about buying bulbs in the autumn… Though I am always quite last minute myself…!xx

That's a good idea, I'd love to try that, and nice to have the Spring flowers in your house at wintertime too. I'm not a great gardener, though our heavy clay soil doesn't seem to like much! I'm always amazed by the amount of wildflowers that come out in the Spring in the garden though, so many bluebells and primroses. I'm going to make a note to plant the bulbs in the Autumn!

The wildflowers sound amazing, I have already spotted a few bluebells ready to peel open around these parts! Yes bulbs in autumn is a great idea, and I believe it is actually fine to plant a lot of them as late as December! xx

I love daffodils, and it always makes me smile when I find the first one popping up in my garden. This year, they were pretty early, long before Mother's Day! I also loved all the links to Greek mythology!

Ah I’m glad you do, they are so welcome in their hopefulness when they emerge. Yes! I think our first ones came through in February time… So happy to hear you enjoyed the Greek mythology, I loved learning about these tales too xx

My daffodils popped this week and they've given me the most hopeful feeling. My energy has felt quite slow and sluggish lately so I'm looking forward to the brightness and lightness of spring.

It was fun to read more about Persephone. My daughter's name is Cora so I'm familiar with the tale. As well as meaning 'maiden' her name also means 'little heart' and 'seething pool' which makes me laugh. She really does embody it all!

Lovely to see you today and hope we can make it a regular thing!

Ah I’m so glad to hear that your daffodils are bringing some colour to your garden, much-needed at this time of year I find. And I am with you on the heaviness of winterspring, this transition takes a lot of energy I’m finding.

And yes! I thought of your Cora when I was reading about Kore. It is such a fascinating tale and I love the messages that lie deep within it. Haha I also love the alternative meanings, so much fullness!

Yes thank you for today, I love the co-working space, it feels lovely to be working alongside others, alone together! xx

Daffodils are another typical British thing for me that I truly miss. Sure, we can get them here as well and they grow where they’ve been planted but gardens and fields are not overflowing with them in Germany and I miss their majestic crowns as they gentle wave in the wind 🥰 I didn’t by any as I couldn’t find these local rays of spring sunshine! Enjoy yours! 🌼
