Beautifully written. I can appreciate that dance between the swirling thoughts and a need to quieten down. I feel as though I have so much to do over the coming months - all of my own creation - so I’m looking forward to slowing right down and spreading things out 💛

Yes, it is such a dance — I am hoping winter will bring more stillness in my mind. It is exciting that you have so much coming up in the next few months, I hope that it will be a good time for groundwork and getting very clear on everything as you return to work )with a lot of rest when you can too!)

And yes to spreading things out, I am continuing to learn that not everything needs, or should be done at the same time, there are seasons for everything, as you know...! xx

I felt very nurtured reading this. Thank you. I'm an October baby, so normally autumn is MY season – but this year have found the leaves are going bare because I even had the opportunity to notice their change. (Which may or may not be a metaphor...) Am also finding that the news and my endless doomscrolling is infiltrating all waking hours, to a point of unhealthiness, so I think some soft blankets, some low lights and candles, some broths and hearty soups are needed to create some kind of buffer from things I cannot change. So thanks for reminder xx

PS Your hallway is so beautiful. I can barely see mine for buggies, muddy boots, scooters and a random stick collection....

I’m glad to hear that A. It can feel pointless writing here/doing anything right now whilst so much is going on, but at the same time I feel like continuing to show up and call for even tiny pockets of tenderness can’t be a bad thing.

Ah I love that you are an October baby, I am early September but think of myself as an autumn soul too. I do know what you mean though, often we are so consumed, we that we don’t see the gradual change and it feels so sudden. I find that things go by in slightly less of a blur when I take in our surroundings and the point that we are at in the year. At the same time, how are we in the middle of November?!

I am glad you find comfort in aspects of these rituals and I hope they will be of some use to you. Sending love A in these darkest times xx

P.s. should probably show other side of hallway for full disclosure which features a double buggy and a single buggy (also storage vessels when not in use), a scooter, a bike and many pairs of strewn shoes, random items of clothing...you are not alone!! Ha we often seem to collect sticks, and crumpled up leaves too xx

This is stunning Lyndsay... I adore the little viewpoints into you home and the invitation to explore all the senses. Such an interesting thought to ponder on this air and wind being the portal that clears the way into winter. I’m looking forward to exploring the new publication you mentioned... although I have to admit I already feel like I can’t ‘keep up’ with all the amazing pieces here!!! I need a day of reading! Xx

Thank you L. Yesss, I am wondering whether all the transition and letting go is a pathway into stillness we need for deep rest during winter, to be discussed further...!

Ah yes, Bridget and Ana’s Wildflower Way is beautiful, their courses were a huge source of support, nourishment and creativity to me in my early days of mothering. I highly recommend watching their journey here unfold!

However, I know exactly what you mean, I am so behind in my reading, I want to tell everyone to take a day/week off writing more so that I can catch up! xx

Yes yes yes to all of it. ❤️

And the quote in the beginning made me wonder, did Rilke and Sésane write in English or French or perhaps German? What would the words have sounded like if the original wasn’t English, what was the energy between the them. Already so stunning in English. And maybe my thoughts of a multi lingual brain make no sense at all 😅

A very good point Carmen. I have found versions of the book in French and in German but I am not sure which the original was. I would love to find out how the quote was written in both languages, beautiful and evocative in different ways I am sure xx

I love to use the senses to set the tone, to match it to the atmosphere or energy I want to create. It also depends on the season and weather! It can look like warm, soft lighting, fairy lights and candles or bright sunshine from open windows, A playlist for the moment/activity in hand, fresh flowers on the kitchen table, pillows and blankets on the sofa, an oil diffuser full of my favourite oils. Open windows or doors kicked wide open. It's warm drinks and tasty snacks. I don't plan it as such, just little adjustments to my environment as I move about my day!

All SUCH beautiful ideas and yes I’m definitely here for the unplanned but intuitive additions to fit the way we want to feel at a certain point in time, anchored by the season. Thank you for sharing these lovely insights into the atmosphere and energy you so naturally create at home xx
