Ah thank you so much Vicky! The Christmas tree seems to evolve with a new bauble or two each year. My daughter (who is 3 nearly 4) did a lot of the decorating this year and I hardly had to change anything...! xx
Wow, incredibly well trained! My son lost interest after a couple of decorations, which is actually fine by me as I was getting a bit twitchy when they all went on the same branch 😆
Just quickly flicked through this darling and bookmarking for later but just wanted to let you know I love your imagery. And a deep heartfelt thank you for mentioning me. So so grateful for you. Can’t wait to dive in and read once the kids are in bed xx
I'm so touched to be mentioned in this beautiful post! I love hearing your reflections and the photos you share alongside your words always feel so cozy, personal and inspiring. Thank you for this lovely letter Lyndsay! xx
I recently read somewhere that leaving milk and cookies out for Santa is on a spiritual level, really leaving offerings for spirit as a gift of gratitude. I used to love doing that as a child and had fallen away from it. This year, I am going to bring that tradition in as I celebrate the Winter Solstice.
P.S. I’m curled up all cozy on my couch with my cacao and I’m so grateful to have come across this piece. I just recently shared with my partner how amazing it is to lean into the inwardness of winter and how I couldn’t imagine not having the permission to do it 💗
Oh wow I love that take on leaving food out for Santa (and a carrot for the reindeer!), it was very much a tradition in my family home and I look forward to bringing it to our home this year, especially with this new spiritual and seasonal perspective in mind.
I love hearing that you were able to curl up with this post and that you are fully on board with the inward beauty of the season, I love it more each year! xx
Thank you Elizabeth, I am so glad it had a cosy feel! And yes thank you for the inspiration, I would love to incorporate the tradition into our home xx
I love that a robin joined you as you planted your bulbs - a sign that a loved one is near ❤️. I'm really trying to honour my need for rest this winter, trying not to get myself in a spin as I usually do! Love the picture of the winter half light in your home. I've been noticing all the gorgeous kind of milky colours in the sky lately. We also saw a lovely rainbow coloured sunset on a late walk home from school the other day.
Yes, this robin was such a sweet companion and I love that thought too, it is so comforting. I'm so glad to hear that you are intending to honour your rest this season, it is so important but very much easier said than done. I sympathise, it is incredibly easy to get in a spin with all of the elements at play that's for sure. Oh wow, your beautiful pastel sky sounds incredibly special and what a magic sunset, I'm so glad you got to experience that. I am growing to love so much about winter and the precious light is definitely one of my favourite aspects xx
Well done for getting out and planting some bulbs! I really wanted to do the same but was working...not too late though, eh? When do you tend to plant your sweet peas? x
Thanks L, it did feel like a bit of a feat in the bitterness of last weekend. Will be worth it though (I hope!) and I still have a few more that I want to put in pots, must find time for that. Last year I did some forced Paperwhites indoors which were lovely (but got quite leggy). Anyway apparently it is not too late for bulbs! Thank you for the sweet peas reminder, I have never planted sweet peas but it is something I would like to do., they are so lovely. I guess I have missed the autumn planting slot so I think there is a second opportunity in spring...? How about you? xx
Such a lovely wintry post! And your Christmas tree is beautiful 🤩
