Are your bulbs coming out yet? I keep checking but only one or two of about 100 have peeped through wheras my neighbours gardens are covered in shoots.

Hmm I have quite a few shoots but I think they are mainly from bulbs that already existed in the ground from previous years. I’ve spotted a couple of shoots from the bulbs I planted earliest but lots still to come through at all. I’m sure they will be on their way soon! How beautiful it will be when your 100 come through!!xx

Oh goodness, these beautiful words are making me fall in love with January, which (along with the whole of winter) is definitely not the month I typically gravitate towards! And a big yes to going slow - it seems crazy it’s become the month of hard-edged resolutions when, as you wisely say, dreaming & softness are so much more apt. Xx

Oh Annabel, I will take that as a compliment as I know you are a summer soul! I also once thought it unthinkable to love January (!) I feel so different about it now. And yes, the idea of restriction and resolution seems so at odds with what is so deeply needed at this time of year, it’s wonderful to hear you are in the soft and slow dreaming camp too! xx

Wow, I love the Omen Days ritual that you shared. So inspired to work that into my journaling practice. Thank you :)

Beautiful! “Living softly”… that’s my signpost for all of 2025 I think. But yes, easing in and dreaming wildly. For the first time, I’m enjoying January, for all the reasons you captured here, and I think, because I realised that January 1st isn’t really the start of the new year for me (or nature) and that comes later with the lunar new year, leaving time for us to gently unwind into and receive our vision for the year ahead. ❄️✨

Ah yes I love that, I absolutely agree that the idea of living softly feels like a good idea for the year ahead.

I am so happy to hear you are enjoying January and that my thoughts aligned with yours. I have had such a turnaround in terms of January love in recent years!

And yes, it feels good to release the pressure on 1st January, knowing that we are in the middle of a season (especially one of deep rest here in the northern hemisphere!). I love what you mention about receptivity of our visions, it feels as though we need to consciously make the space, rather than push and force things xx

This season is bookmarked with sunshine days, blue skies, cranked up air conditioning & drifting about in easy to wear linens that are cool. Iced coffees, early morning gardening and the reading of books along with a post Christmas jigsaw have all filled my days nicely. Summer holiday memories have been especially poignant his year.

Thank you for your lovely words - a true tonic for the mind in this heat & a reminder that autumn will be here soon enough!

(ps - I am also not really ready for 2025 just yet so will continue with my drifting & pottering & stretch this subliminal space out a little longer.)

Oh wow Tiffany, where are you based? It sounds very far from here! I love the sound of iced coffee and early mornings in the garden, reading and puzzles also sound lovely. What a glorious summer holiday.

I am so glad you enjoyed reading, although we are experiencing opposite extremes in many ways!

And it’s great to hear you are also gently drifting into the year, I’m still finding my feet, very much here for extending the in-between a while longer xx

Gorgeous, as ever. I love the idea of living softly and of investigating the omen days. So many wonderful things to focus on at a time when it feels cold and dark. Thank you for the reminder! I also love your paperwhites. xx
