A moonlit message for the February full moon.

a micro-dose of seasonal love from A Seasonal Salon | winter edition.

Hello, I am so glad you have found your way here… I’m Lyndsay — mother, creative and storyteller with a background in interiors PR.

Step inside Story & Thread., a cosy, layered home where the threads of creativity, interiors and mothering meet. Here, we unearth the stories from the seasons of our lives, with a house & a garden at the heart, and everyday beauty as our guide…

Moon set.

“When the wind of winter blows over the uplands and moonlit spaces.

Come ye out to the waste of snows to the glimmering fields and the silent places.”

Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Dearest reader

How are you today, on what is a very wintry, chalky-skied Monday in London…?

Monday, was named for the moon. In Latin, ‘dies Lunae’ meant ‘day of the moon’, later translated into Old English as ‘mōnandæg’, meaning, ‘moon day’.

As it is a couple of days before the February full moon, I thought I would drop in with a short moonlit message, taken from A Seasonal Salon., winter edition that took place last week…

The Full Snow Moon.

The moon is waxing its way to the Full Snow Moon (also known as the Storm moon, Ice Moon and the Hunger moon) on Wednesday 12th February — which in contrast to its wintry connotations, falls in the sign of Leo, hinting at gentle radiance and warmth.

Leo is a fire sign, ruled by the sun and beaming with warmth, creativity and vitality — it thaws the cold ground and stirs new life. In the same vein, the festivals of Imbolc, St Brigid’s Day and Candlemas at the beginning of February, are fire festivals, setting the tone and celebrating the growing light, rebirth and hope for the season ahead.

Fire rituals have been used for centuries to burn, to clear, to purify, to illuminate. It is no coincidence that Brigid, Celtic solar goddess of fire is honoured on the cusp of winter and spring — as keeper of the flame, it is thought that she walks the land to warm the earth, and the brave first flowers bloom in her wake.

February moon day.

I have put together some contemplations to ponder under the shimmers of the February moon…

*What is gently awakening within?

*Where do you feel movement in your life?

*What can you sense when you become still?

*How are you tending to your creative flame?

*What is being illuminated?

Sowing a seed.

I loved gathering together to sink deep into late winter at A Seasonal Salon. last week, and am already looking forward to the spring edition which will take place in early May, for all members of The Beauty Thread.

Join The Beauty Thread.

As May still feels like a way off, I am sowing a seed under the light of this full moon — to add an online seasonal co-working space earlier in spring. It will be an opportunity to gather together for a brief introduction with some creative cues inspired by where we are in the season, followed by some time to work on our own projects (this includes really anything, from writing, creating art, working on your business, reading, feeding a baby…!), individually but together. The first session will be open to all subscribers.

Would like to join me…? Let me know in the comments or send me a message!

I hope you are able to take a moment in the soft stillness and silence of the Full Snow Moon, to be able to sense all that is stirring within — do let me know if anything is illuminated, I would love to hear from you.
