Dearest reader
How are you during this most potent week of solstice light, midsummer magic, and new moon cocooning…?! A week of true summer wholeness exploring both the light and the dark, the sun and the shadows, the expansion and the retreat, and so much more besides…
I adored being joined by women tending to their creativity at Gather & Tend. in summer this morning. It felt both expansive and nurturing to be in the space as beautiful making and tending took place — everything from collage, crochet, business visioning and ideation, course creation, dream building, and poetry crafting was woven together with care.
As we embraced the season around us, we contemplated what feels most alive and alight for us right now…and where can we go a little easier on ourselves…
Why Gather & Tend.?
I recently introduced Gather & Tend. to The Beauty Thread. as a place to come together early on in the season, whilst creating space for us to us to tend to our own projects with care.
We are so often pulled out of ourselves by external demands — both gathering together and gathering ourselves inwards is an important and nourishing way to reclaim some of the time and space we need. I often crave a place to land within the blur of everyday life to tend inwardly to the things that require a deeper level of thought, that cannot be rushed. Do you feel that way too?
In the height of the light and the long, luminous summer days, it feels like an opportune and necessary time to pause, just as the solstice asks us to — the word 'solstice' from the Latin solstitium meaning 'sun stands still'. As well as a celebration, it is a time to linger a little longer.
Even more so, with the moon currently in darkness, it is time to find sanctuary in the summer shadows, an opportunity to go inward in a season of outward action.
