“I have creative outbursts and the same with my energy. I have days where I have a lot of energy and other days I don't. And with my creativity, it's very similar, it's very intuitive.”

—Katharina Geissler-Evans, founder & editor-in-chief, heiter.

How are you getting on this week? We are a week in to the summer holidays here which has been magic and mayhem in equal measure…!

I am so excited to bring you the first ATELIER interview in conversation form, with Katharina (Kiki) Geissler-Evans — the visionary behind

, a publication, a curated space and evolving lifestyle brand for those seeking joy in the everyday. is a great source of inspiration to me, in terms of its ethos, style and storytelling — the current Homecoming issue is beautiful, and is never far from my side.

After connecting with Katharina via Instagram some months ago, it has been wonderful to get to know her and the workings behind the magazine more closely. After a number of Zoom calls and voicenotes back and forth, it felt natural to ask Katharina if she would like to chat with me about her creative process, practices and space for ATELIER…

ATELIER, noun, [French atuh-lyey].

a workshop or studio, especially of an artist, artisan, or designer.

More about Katharina:

Katharina Geissler-Evans is the founder & editor-in-chief of heiter, an independent lifestyle publication and brand with a strong focus on supporting others in finding and celebrating joy in the chaos. When Katharina isn’t writing, curating and talking about all things heiter, she spends her time exploring different aspects of intentional living in her own life, as well as fashion styling for other brands and indie publications. Katharina, who describes herself as ‘a multi-passionate creative’, lives with her husband and their two kids in Edinburgh.

You can connect with Katharina via the heiter website, the community membership The Heiter Society, instagram here and here, and on Substack. You can buy the current Homecoming issue here.

Our conversation:

I loved that exploring Kiki’s creative space and process gives a window not only into her workspace, but all that has brought her to this point, and how she navigates a creative life in a new home in a new country, with young children.

“When delving into an artist’s work, never underestimate the power of seeking out their home and surroundings. While it might be a ‘domestic’ space, it can also be a portrait of someone’s interior mind, revealing more than even an artwork”.
